Telehealth lets you speak to a doctor or other health professional by video or phone. It can be convenient for follow-ups, prescription reviews, mental health support and many minor problems.
To make the most of your appointment:
- Find a quiet, private, well-lit space.
- Test your device, camera, microphone and internet connection beforehand.
- Have a list of your symptoms, medicines and questions ready.
- If you can, take readings such as your temperature or blood pressure before the call.
- Keep a pen and paper nearby to note advice and next steps.
Telehealth is not suitable for every situation, and your clinician may ask you to come in for an examination or tests. For emergencies, such as chest pain, severe difficulty breathing or signs of a stroke, call emergency services instead.
